Paul and Ximena, Sisa and Tamir

Friday evening we often see Paul Tonkinson and his wife, Ximena, and their little 3 year old Sisa, to share pizza or whatever else we might like to do. Paul is IB Coordinator and (very good!) teacher of Physics at John's school; Ximena works at the French Alliance school. For some time they have also been looking after 6 year old Tamir, who is daughter of Ximena's sister, living in England. Robbie and Maia, Sisa and Tamir get on so very well together. Oh yes, we do have the occasional tantrums and little 'fights' but nothing beyond what young children are normally capable of! Tonight we made pancakes at home, after playing for ages outside and watching the fires on Ilalo. All the children learnt to use the binoculars and were able to see the firemen at work on the slopes opposite. They all also shared the cameras and all 4 of them took pictures with varying success. The evening ended in the night - in disorder! Robbie took himself to bed - sensibly as it turned out!. Then it was time for Paul and family to leave, but the remote control for the big gate onto the road was 'lost'. We knew where it should have been! Little Sisa and Robbie are both notorious magpies or squirrels - hiders of things! Hunting high and low, with the 'help' of Maia proved a waste of time. Sisa denied wrong-doing and we simply could not drag Robbie out of his deep sleep. Eventually we had to wake neighbours and beg the use of their control. Tomorrow, the search will begin in earnest!
