Robbie and Maia fell asleep on the sofa
Robbie and Maia are beat this evening! And so is John. The children spent a good part of the day away at the home of friends Billy and Asha, playing lions and tigers on the trampoline, picnicking in the garden and racing each other from corner to corner. They then came to John's school after lunch, playing on the swings and slides while new parents and children toured the school. What a great day! Until the inevitable tiredness set in! And then ... the tantrums! It did not help that John was also with matchsticks holding eye-lids open and barely able to string meaningful words together. In John's case it was all about the school timetable. Making a timetable, even for a small school, is like playing several games of chess concurrently, or perhaps solving a gigantic soduko puzzle. It takes hours of concentrated effort - in this case two complete nights without sleep during the week. Impossible to break away and take a nap! If you do so, all those games of chess cease to have a life, and must be started all over. So, why tantrums? Often Friday evenings we go out for a wind-down pizza with friends. Poor Pippa, Asha and Billy's Mum, had to cry off tonight because of a stomach upset. So both families decided to stay home. Oh dear! That brought on the tantrums. Fortunately short-lived - Robbie amd Maia soon went fast asleep, out to this world, just where they were seated. So in the end, it is early to bed for us all. What a blessing! Goodnight!
